Integration of III-V Lasers Onto Si
Title
Integration of III-V Lasers Onto Si
Description
The image submitted is a modified SEM image of a III-V laser that is integrated onto a Si wafer. By integrating lasers onto Si, we are able to increasing the speed of integrated circuits. Full integration is difficult because lasers cannot be grown onto Si directly. Through the use of an In/Ag alloy full integration has been achieved with minimal loss to the optoelectronic properties of the laser. The image's background is a cross-sectional image of the laser and wafer interface as well as the wavelength range graph on the laser light.
